Why Play Around the Clock?
Around the Clock is one of the most popular darts practice games, helping improve your accuracy across the entire dartboard. Unlike games that focus solely on the 20 segment, this exercise forces you to hit every number, building confidence in areas of the board you might normally avoid.
Professional players like Michael van Gerwen, Gary Anderson, and Luke Littler have exceptional accuracy across all segments. This comes from countless hours of practice hitting every part of the board, not just the high-scoring treble 20.
Game Modes Explained
Choose from three different target types to suit your practice needs:
- Full Sections: Hit anywhere in the segment - perfect for beginners or warming up
- Doubles: Only the outer double ring counts - essential for checkout practice
- Trebles: Only the inner treble ring counts - for those seeking a real challenge
Order Options
You can play in three different orders. The classic 1-20 approach teaches you the board systematically, while 20-1 starts with the familiar top of the board and works down. Random order keeps you on your toes and prevents you from developing muscle memory for a specific sequence.
Tips for Better Accuracy
Focus on your stance and throw consistency. Many players struggle with the bottom of the board (numbers like 3, 19, and 7) because they rarely practice there. This game helps identify and address those weak spots in your game.
Track your average darts per target over time. As you improve, you should see this number decrease, indicating better first-dart accuracy across the board.
