How It Works
- 9 darts (3 visits) to complete each checkout
- Must finish on a double to succeed
- Track your checkout percentage over time
- Going below 0 or leaving 1 is a bust
Why Practice Checkouts?
Finishing is where legs are won and lost. You can throw 180s all day, but if you can't hit your doubles when it matters, those big scores mean nothing. Checkout practice builds both your finishing knowledge and your composure under pressure.
Professional players like Michael van Gerwen, Luke Humphries, and Luke Littler have checkout percentages above 40% because they've drilled these finishes thousands of times. This game helps you build that same muscle memory and decision-making speed.
How the Game Works
You have 9 darts (three visits to the board) to complete each checkout. Input what you hit after each dart, and the game tracks your remaining score and shows suggested routes. Choose from common checkout scores or random finishes between 40 and 170.
Key Checkouts to Know
- 170: The maximum checkout - T20, T20, Bull
- 121: A common finish - T20, T11, D14 or T17, Bull
- 100: T20, D20 - a clean two-dart finish
- 81: T19, D12 - appears frequently in matches
- 40: D20 - the most common finish in darts
Bogey Numbers
Some scores between 160 and 170 cannot be finished with three darts. These are called bogey numbers: 169, 168, 166, 165, 163, 162, and 159. Learning to avoid leaving yourself on these numbers is an important part of match strategy.
Tips for Better Finishing
Focus on doubles that break down well. Double 16 is popular because missing inside leaves 8, then 4, then 2, then 1. Double 20 offers the highest value but breaks down to single 20 and double 10. Know your preferred doubles and set up your checkouts to leave them.
Track your success rate over time. A beginner might manage 10-20% on 121, while a strong club player could hit 40-50%. Regular practice with this game will help you climb those percentages.
